Independent Digital Records yet another Record Year

INDEPENDENT Digital and Independent.ie has recorded yet another record year, according to figures just published by ABC Electronic (ABCe) – the online / digital arm of newspaper circulation auditors.

The latest audited figures from ABCe show that Independent Digital racked up 4 million unique browsers in March 2012, up 25% on its last audit*. Page impressions have also grown massively and are at 46 million.

Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte highlighted online advertising’s 20% growth in the first half of 2011 at a time when adspend on other media is in decline.

The Independent.ie app has a four-star rating while its nearest competitor in the Irish market receives a three-star rating. Reviews of the app are said to feature positive posts from users in the Nokia store.The app is designed to ensure easy navigation between articles without leaving the application and offers smartphone users ‘best in class’ usability and stability.

Winners Announced

(Friday, 11th November 2011) The winners of the 2011 eircom Spider Awards were unveiled last night at a gala black-tie event in Dublin’s Convention Centre, hosted by well known comic and TV personality Dara O’Briain. Independent.ie was media partner for the eircom Spider Awards.

Ray Nolan was awarded the Internet Hero at the awards.

Irish online advertising has bucked the recession recording its highest level of growth at 20.5% in the first half of 2011 according to the bi-annual advertising spend study from IAB Ireland and PwC.
