Creative Formats

Banner

  • The ‘banner’ term can be used for any size online format but in this case we refer to a 468x60 creative. Being one off the smaller creative sizes the banner has been around almost from the beginning of online advertising.

Expandable Banner

  • User initiated by moving the mouse cursor over the standard banner (468x60), the creative expands below to 468x225. Once the mouse cursor is moved off the creative, the format returns to its original standard size automatically.

Leaderboard

  • Also known as a ‘Monster banner’ this is a bigger format of the Banner creative with the size of 728x90 and is served through the same tag as a banner so one or the other only ever serves.

Expandable Leaderboard

Push-down Leaderboard

  • A relatively new type of format in the industry; the Pushdown is similar to the Expandable Leaderboard. Initially serving as a standard Leaderboard, when the user mouses over the creative the Leaderboard expand downwards, however, instead of expanding over the web page content, it actually pushes all content down the page as it expands.

Skyscraper

  • Also known as a tower ad, the skyscraper has been around from the beginning also. The standard size for the format is 120x600 but 160x600 (Wide Skyscraper) is also accepted.

Expandable Skyscraper

MPU

  • (Multiple Purpose Unit) One of the most popular formats in online advertising, the MPU is can be 300x250 or 300x300.

Island

  • A smaller version of the MPU format, an Island is served thorough the same tag as the MPU and its dimensions are 250x250.

Expandable MPU

  • The expandable format of the MPU expands to the left of the creative on top of the web-page content once user initiated. This can expand up to 500x250.

Expandable Island

Half Page

  • One of the biggest formats around the Half Page is served through an MPU/Island tag. It is extremely hard not to see at a size of 300x600 it has the width of an MPU and the height of a Skyscraper.

Tile

  • A smaller ad format positioned underneath the Skyscraper. The tile can be various sizes such as 120x60, 120x90, 125x125 or 120x240.

Overlay

  • This format is served directly on top of the content on the web page. This can vary in size but usually should be 400x300.

Peel-back

  • This format is simple yet sophisticated. Positioned snugly in the top right hand corner at a start off size of 90x180, the peel-back appears as if the corner of the (web) page is lifted. Once user initiated by moving the mouse cursor over, the creative literally peels back to a size of 600x600.

Daily newsletter MPU

  • The 250x250 MPU is located on the top right hand site of the daily newsletter. It is located above the fold so is one of the first things that a user sees when they open the email.  As it is the only ad included in the Daily Newsletter clients can avail of exclusive advertising.

The Lot MPU

  • The 250x250 MPU can be located in one of 3 ad spots down the right hand side of The Lot newsletter and can be included in a section that is most relevant to it.

Permission Email

  • The 692 pixel wide dedicated permission email provides an exclusive branded and is delivered straight to the inbox of a clients target audience.
